Technician – Repairs/Calibrations

CAD Designer

AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation, located in Souderton, PA, is seeking a motivated, local, recent graduate for an open CAD Design position. This position will learn to play a crucial role in the development of RF/Microwave amplifiers and related instrumentation.  The ideal candidate will prefer diversity over specialization and desire to work in a small team setting to architect, develop, maintain and improve Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and Mechanical packaging.  Work alongside and collaborate with a team of engineers to model and document complex electrical and mechanical designs.  Recent CAD experience required.  Experience with Autodesk Inventor®, AutoCAD and Altium Designer is preferred.  AR is a privately-held company that has been in business continuously since 1969 and is the world leader in the industry. This is an entry level position and we welcome recent graduates to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Electrical CAD software to design and develop Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assemblies
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and assembly documentation
  • Create new component symbols and footprints and maintain existing component libraries
  • Utilize solid modeling software to design and develop mechanical parts for product packaging
  • Create Bills of Material
  • Work closely with Engineers to document and assist with optimizing their designs
  • Generate documentation for fabrication and production of assemblies
  • Prepare and implement design changes to existing products

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience with PCB design
  • 1-2 years of experience with 3D mechanical part modeling
  • Experience with Altium Designer
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of RoHS and applicable processes

The candidates must possess very good hand-eye coordination, ability to work under a microscope for long lengths of time, and strong ability to read and interpret assembly drawings. High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus 1-5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Test Technician

Amplifier Research Corporation, world leader in the design and manufacture of broadband RF amplifiers, is seeking a Test Tech responsible for performing tests and troubleshooting RF equipment, as well as maintaining appropriate test documentation. The Technician will also perform basic wire checking as well as power supply and RF testing and troubleshooting of problems by performing the following duties.

 

  • Perform basic alignments on solid state equipment on subassemblies and assemblies;
  • Test products for conformance to specifications using necessary test equipment;
  • Ensure assembly and test meets requirements;
  • Perform pretests on subassemblies as required;
  • Set up standard test RF Test Equipment to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance;
  • Analyze and interpret simple test data;
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components and record unit performance;
  • Perform point to point wire checking from wiring documentation for continuity and accuracy;
  • Perform DC power supply testing and interpret results;
  • Perform power supply troubleshooting and make repairs as required;
  • Perform minor disassembly and reassembly work on amplifiers;
  • Inspect assembly work for quality and document non-conformances;
  • Work with assemblers to improve quality.

 

The candidate should possess an Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school (two or more years’ experience a plus) or demonstrated high degree of ability to successfully perform all duties of this position; RF experience is strongly preferred. Must have basic computer skills.
