Souderton, PA — February 14, 2019 — 2019 marks the 50th Anniversary of the inception of AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation. What began as two men designing power amplifiers in the basement of a small home is now a multi-national family of companies that includes AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation, AR Modular RF, SunAR RF Motion, and AR Europe.
Throughout the world, the AR companies are known for providing innovative RF and Microwave Solutions, and for delivering the highest level of service & support. Its products range from equipment for EMC and RF testing; to RF amplifiers & modules, booster amplifiers for military communications; and positioning equipment, turntables, towers, antenna systems, and reverberation chamber stirrers.
“It’s hard enough for most startups to survive the first five years, much less 50 years,” said Robert Morris University management professor Marcel Minutolo. “Making it 50 years is a pretty impressive feat.”

Throughout its 50 years, AR has been responsible for a number of “firsts” which have transformed not only EMC and RF testing but also the industries and equipment affected by these tests. A sampling of these innovations includes:
- 10,000 W tube amplifiers
- 100 W solid-state 100-1000 MHz instantaneous bandwidth Class A amplifier
- First production 16,000 W solid-state linear amplifier from 10 kHz to 225 MHz
- 50,000 W Class A power amplifier up to 225 MHz
- 0.7 to 6 GHz high-power Class A & AB amplifier
As AR enters its second 50 years, it continues unveiling innovations and pushing boundaries. In both 2017 and 2018 AR won the award for “EMC Product of the Year” from EMC Live.
